FF13-2 6:13:06 run, part (0:00:00-0:00:00) Part 1 (00:00:00-00:25:30) New Bodham AF003, battle with Gogmagog 1 and 2. I made some messups running around, but caught up to the kid with Snow's Necklace sooner than usual. I grabbed an Iron Bangle from a chest and also got another one from the Gogmagog 2 fight. ----- Part 2 (00:25:30-00:35:41) In part 2, I fight Paradox Alpha (Atlas' left hand) then explore a bit of the Bresha Ruins AF005. Chocolina makes her first appearance, whereupon I buy some new weapons from her for both party members. I get my first two monster party members, Cait Sith and some little thing with a square ring around it. Cait Sith is a Healer/Medic, and square ring thing is a Blaster/Ravager. I put them both in the party for some healing support and more magic staggering. I rename Cait Sith to 'Strawberry', my favorite fruit, then save the game manually before going into a tunnel after running past Atlas. ----- Part 3 (00:35:41-1:11:34) At Bresha Ruins AF005, I activate the machine that weakens Atlas by about 90% after doing some of the Time Labyrinth puzzles (I only do about 4 sets all game). I don't choose to give up and solve the puzzles for the CP from the fragments I receive. I get a Hoplite to join, then level up Serah and Noel, choosing to get ATB slot #4 for both characters. I also level up Strawberry and the little red thing. At Chocolina, I buy 5 nails to get the Hoplite to reach level 6, where it learns Phys Defense +15%. Strawberry the Cait Sith then eats? the Hoplite or whatever happens to learn Phys Defense +15% for itself. A Garkimasera or something like that joins up, and by eating it, the little red guy learns Fire to go with its Thunder spell. The game auto saves in front of Atlas, who goes down easily enough with 3 Blasters/Ravagers. Mog learns how to spot invisible chests, which I use to grab some Ooparts, then some more Ooparts behind some prison bars. I also use a Chocobo to get Graviton Core Beta. About the Graviton Cores: I don't know how many I need or if I need any of them. I wanted to be safe and do grab most of them, plus the 500 CP isn't too bad. Next to Chocolina I pick up some Wild Ooparts. I level up Serah, Noel, Strawberry, and little red thing, then go through a gate that takes me to Sunleth Waterscape AF300. At Sunleth Waterscape AF300, Snow helps fight a really big pudding boss monster. On the big turtle thing or whatever, Snow suggests the party the idea of throwing mog around. I don't need any of the items during the slow turtle ride, so I just skip the scene. I grab some Ooparts after killing some Puchinero/Petit Habaneros, and the game auto-saves when I get back on the big turtle thing. 06:50-41:06 ----- Part 4 (1:11:34-1:33:29) 3a, 43:33-1:06:27 Still at Sunleth Waterscape AF300, I use some Ooparts to open the gate that takes me to the Coliseum. At the Coliseum, I get a fragment and throw Mog at some treasure chests off the edge of the map for some monster level up items. I'm not sure if I need to go to the Coliseum or not. Upon levelling up her Crystarium, I unlock the Jammer/Saboteur role for Serah, and Noel unlocks the Enhancer/Synergist role. Strawberry and the little red thing get some level ups too, then I leave the Coliseum for Sunleth Waterscape AF300 once again. I grab some items then open a gate that takes me to the timeless Archelyte Steppe. Storywise, I think this area is a bit later in the game, but all I want from here right now is a Grimoire Hat accessory (doubles the healing effect of Potions, like the Doctor's Code in 13-1, and does some Libra-type effect) and a new weapon for Noel. At Chocolina, I buy some Potion, Phoenix Down, Panacea/Remedy, and Blood Potion, then sell some of the accessories I picked up at the Sunleth Waterscape. Going for Noel's weapon, Mog bounces off the wall a couple times before I make the throw correctly to get the chest with the Guardian Edge inside, then I leave to go back to Neo Bodham AF003 to get the Graviton Core Alpha that is there, then it's back to Bresha Ruins AF005. Another Hoplite joins up, so I save the game here. As I'll want a couple of these to join for the Phys Defense +15% ability they can pass on, I'll take the one I get here for now. ----- Part 5 (1:33:29-1:42:51) 3b, 05:51-16:58 At Chocolina I buy 4 Gysahl Vegetables or whatever it is that Chocobos eat, then I get the Camp Key that allows me to open the prison door I get to when Mog opens the chest. In this southern area I get a weapon for Serah, the Butterfly Waltz, and a Unicorn Horn, which is similar to a Panacea/Remedy on all party members at one time. The other robot enemy in this area, the Pulsework Knight, gives a HP+25% up ability upon reaching level 20, which only needs 30 grade 1 parts to reach, so for 2,400 gil I can get HP+25% on any monster I like. I manage to get one, level up a Hoplite to level 6. At Chocolina, I buy enough nails for the Pulsework Knight to reach level 20, then open a new gate that leads to Yaschas Massif AF010. ----- Part 6 (1:42:51-1:48:02) 3b, 27:21-32:50 Yaschas Massif AF010 can be pretty dangerous, with those pesky Behemoths around. After pulling a successful Metal Gear Serah, I get Mog to grab another Unicorn Horn from a chest. A little slug with a flower on top of it (don't know the English name) joins up, which is very handy. Not only is the monster a Healer/Medic, it also comes with an auto ability that improves the drop rate of rare items (300% with 5 stars, 110% with 4). I name the little guy Caramel, then save. ----- Part 7 (1:48:02-1:58:20) 3b, 35:15-47:15 Still at Yaschas Massif AF010, the Pulsework Knight learning HP+25%, then Strawberry eats it to learn the ability. The boss that looks like Gogmagog (Aroadai?) goes down, and Hope gives me some Ooparts. Serah levels up and gets ATB meter #5, as does Noel. I use the Ooparts given by Hope and the game saves upon using them. ----- Part 8 (1:58:20-2:00:43) 4a, 3:05-5:45 This part starts with going to Bresha Ruins AF005 again, where Caramel eats a Hoplite to learn Phys Defense +15%, and the first Pulsework Knight I bump into joins, so I save. It kind of makes up for the previous part, I guess. ----- Part 9a (2:00:43-2:24:52) 4a, 1:43:35-2:00:05 This part is split into two due to justin.tv/twitch.tv splitting recordings into 2-hour blocks. Next stop, Oerba Village AF200. This is the last area I have to deal with Time Labyrinths, and I solve them for the CP from the fragment rewards. After the third and last Time Labyrinth, I head back a little bit to get some Wild Ooparts. In one chest I get 3 Tears of Woe or some kind of Tears. I need 6 to make a couple of weaker Iron Bangles that give +8% HP and cost 25 accessory equip points or whatever they are. I also want the red and yellow slug monster to join here, as it starts with an ability that gives 50% extra gil whenever I win a battle with it as the active monster. I fight a couple, but they don't join up. Part 9b (2:00:43-2:24:52) 4b, 0:00:00-0:08:46 This part is split into two due to justin.tv/twitch.tv splitting recordings into 2-hour blocks. At Chocolina, I sell some accessories, then buy enough nails for the Pulsework Knight to learn HP+25%, create 3 Weak Iron Bangles, and buy some Potion and Blood Potion. The Weak Iron Bangles get equipped, then Caramel eats the Pulsework Knight to have the HP+25% ability for itself. At the top of the town, I fight Caius. The battle went very well, with Deshell and Deprotect landing and Strawberry (Cait Sith)'s Bio effect landing once Caius gets staggered. The next cutscene is unskippable. I get some Ooparts from the boss fight then save the game. ----- Part 10 (2:24:52-2:28:04) 4b, 16:37-20:04 The plan here is to get a red and yellow slug to join so I can get more gil from battles thanks to the +50% gil ability the slug has, then grab the Graviton Core Gamma above Chocolina. After that, I head to the gate that unlocks the next area, Yaschas Massif AF01X. I take the auto save here. ----- Part 11 (2:28:04-2:37:43) 4b, 26:35-36:28 Timestamp for the ending save time is an estimate, as I don't actually see the time when I load the file for part 12. Before going in to Yaschas Massif AF01X, the red and yellow slug levels up, while Caramel levels up and eats the Pulsework Knight to get HP+25% learned. I name the new guy Hot Dog, then go in to Yaschas Massif AF01X. All I'm doing here for now is getting to a gate to reach the next area, Agastia Tower AF300. Back to Bresha Ruins AF005 for some more robots! I'm pretty sure this is the last time I get them in the run, for the main monster I'll be using. A Pulsework Knight joins pretty fast, so I do a manual save afterward. ----- Part 12 (2:37:43-2:40:33) 4b, 52:25-55:41 Timestamp for the starting save time is an estimate, as I don't actually see the time when I load the file for part 12. I still want a Hoplite, so I get one, then buy nails for the Hoplite and Pulsework Knight to be levelled up then devoured by the next party monster I'll be getting in a little bit. Caramel gets some level-ups too. After that, I save. ----- Part 13 (2:40:33-2:49:58) 5, 00:00-10:59 Next destination: Agastia Tower AF300. Thankfully, this isn't the tower from 13-1. That place was so confusing! Mog gets tossed around a few times in here, always fun. This area is pretty uneventful, as there are not monsters I'm trying to get or anything, just making my way through to get Access Key Type 50, then leave. ----- Part 14 (2:49:58-3:01:39) 6, 2:58-15:18 Now is when I actually have to go to the Archelyte Steppe, to kill some dragon that eats pudding monsters. Before I can do that, I need to do some chores for the local townsfolk. I've gotta beat up some Goblins, then tell the guy that asked me to do so that the job is done, then find 3 big sheep that sound like cows for some lady. After that, I'm allowed to use some weather-changing device to fight Bill Cosby's nemesis, the pudding eating Marduk. Marduk can hit pretty hard, but using Potions while equipped with the Grimoire Hat accessory help in a pinch. Upon beating Marduk, I get out of the Archelyte Steppe for now. The chest I grab is one the fellow streamer Readleeb somehow heard during the dry weather. I don't know how, either. ----- Part 15 (3:01:39-3:07:45) 7, 8:17-14:45 Serah and Noel level up their Crystarium. Serah gets +20 accessory equip points or whatever they are (70 now), while Noel unlocks the Healer/Medic role. Caramel gets some power-ups too, then I visit the Sunleth Waterscape AF300 again With Marduk out of the way, the big pudding thing at the Sunleth Waterscape changes from giant and red to big and green, like a banana pepper or so. The boss isn't tough with proper healing, and I want the rare drop from it, some 'Mutant Ekisu' item or something in the Japanese version. I'll want 3 of the item later for a weapon to buy from Chocolina. I get the drop the very first try, which is a-ok. Mog retrieves some Ooparts for me to use to get to 'The Cracks of Time' or something like that. Upon using the Ooparts, I take the auto-save to finish out the segment. ----- Part 16 (3:07:45-3:16:03) 8a, 26:15-35:35 At the Cracks of Time, I just need to show up I guess, then leave. After that, I go back to the Yaschas Mastiff AF01X to get some Ooparts at the top of the Academy. At Chocolina I buy a Silver Bangle for Serah to equip and some more Potion. After grabbing the Ooparts, I ride a Chocobo near a gate I don't need to use, then take the save. ----- Part 17 (3:16:03-3:20:05) 9, 00:16-6:07 Here's where I try to get a Narasimha to join up. They're pretty strong to fight against at this point in the game, but I want him now. Funny tidbit: the time I got him the first try (this segment) was the first attempt again after a few hours of failure. ----- Part 18 (3:20:05-3:25:21) 9, 23:04-29:16 Before going anywhere, I put the Narasimha in the party to replace the little red guy and name him Raspberry, then have him eat a Chocobo, Pulsework Knight, and a Hoplite. In the Cracks of Time yet again, I use a different gate, to get back to the regular Historia Cross/Crux, and enter Xanadu. At Xanadu, I get the Mog Catch and Deflation Fragment Skills, then grab I guess Sazh's little chocobo then leave. ----- Part 19 (3:25:21-3:42:54) 10a, 13:28-31:49 Now it's time for New Academia AF400. You get fought quite a lot here, especially if you aren't sure where to go. However, the Ghouls are very easy to kill and can drop the 'orb' grade 3 upgrades for monsters, so the beginning parts of this area are really good to build up orbs if you need to. The first non-Ghoul enemy here is some Cobalt-something that looks like the little red guy. I get one to join so I can level it up once to learn "Pinch Shield" aka SOS Shield, then have Raspberry eat it. I'm guessing the ability does SOS Protect and SOS Shell but am not positive. Near the end, I take a left turn and use some Wild Ooparts on a gate for a short detour. ----- Part 20 (3:42:54-3:45:59) 10a, 1:07:51-1:11:22 All I need here at Yaschas Mastiff AF100 is the Graviton Core Epsilon. I grab a crazy red chocobo or whatever, buy some new weapons from Chocolina, then grab Graviton Core Epsilon. ----- Part 21 (3:45:59-3:49:45) 10a, 1:42:43-1:46:47 This part is just getting a Green Chocobo to join, which I winded up not needing at all. ----- Part 22 (3:49:45-4:01:33) 10b, 48:36-1:01:15 Now it's time to head back to New Academia AF400 again, where I fight the boss there, Xenobia. This guy's pretty easy: just kill the tentacles, then debuff him, then attack him to death. If/when Xenobia brings back more tentacles, it seems like you just wait them out to be able to attack Xenobia again to go for the kill. After the boss, I go back to get Graviton Core Delta, then use the Ooparts just gained to open a gate leading to the next area. ----- Part 23 (4:01:33-4:30:00) 11, 49:14-1:20:28 Up next is Agastia Tower AF200. It's pretty hard to get initiative on a lot of the fights here since many of the enemies here like to show up right in your face. The dungeon is similar to the AF300 version, where you use some panels to move doorways of rooms and such. The boss up here, the Demi Fal 'cie or however that's spelled, isn't too almighty as it sounds. I let the cutscene play out after the second fight, because if I don't, I'll keep fighting the boss. I have to let the scene play out then yell at Hope in the live trigger to win in two fights. The first time playing, I of course threw Mog at it. ----- Part 24 (4:30:00-4:35:13) 11, 1:40:07-1:46:22 On to New Academia AF4XX. I get a Silver Chocobo from the green globe thing, then talk to Hope and Alyssa until I give the 5 Graviton Cores I collected to Alyssa and get some Ooparts from Hope. On a later playthrough I tried to not have any Graviton Cores, and wouldn't get the Ooparts until I gave Alyssa 5 of the 6, so I got lucky having the 5 I did already. I use the Ooparts Hope gives me at a gate here, and go off to the next area. ----- Part 25 (4:35:13-4:42:57) 12a, 1:21:51-1:29:58 Back to the Cracks of Time, I can actually go through this place now. It's pretty straightforward; I just keep talking to Yuel until Caius shows up. This fight can be really really jerkwad-ish. After beating Caius, I use the nearby warp to reach the next area, the Dying World or something like that. ----- Part 26 (4:42:57-4:53:00) 13a, 0:00-11:46 The Dying world involves a lot of cutscenes that I can skip. When I get to the Caius fight, I can win or lose; which explains the cutscene after the fight where it looks like Noel got beat down even if you beat Caius. At the final battle with Gogmagog, speed is very important. If you don't kill it fast enough, you can get hit with a lot, if not every status ailment at once, which is dangerous and slows you down. Upon beating Gogmagog, I've got the party again, then save by Chocolina. ----- Part 27 (4:53:00-5:02:35) 15, 15:41-25:38 The goal here is to bump into the big pudding guys, which have a rare drop that I need 2 more of to make a weapon for Serah. I get 1 from a fight then 2 from another, which I guess is ok. I get the rare item along the way to the gate at the far end of the area, which takes me to New Bodham AF700. Mog gets Mog Search upgraded so I can find the Ooparts here that unlock the gate leading to the last dungeon of the game. I'm going to take a little detour first, though. ----- Part 28 (5:02:35-5:04:18) 16, 5:39-7:41 At Xanadu, I learn the 'Deflation' and 'Floaty Jump' Fragment Skills, then leave. I didn't want to have to keep doing that so I take the save here. ----- Part 29 (5:04:18-5:27:23) 16, 21:25-46:50 Going back to the Archelyte Steppe is optional, but I think 60,000CP is worth it. In order to get the two monsters to appear that give 30,000CP each, I need to do some stuff first. At Chocolina I buy 99 Potions and some other consumbles, as well as a new weapon for Serah. I need to beat up some Goblins for the camp leader guy, then get wool from three sheep for a lady at the camp. After that, I need to activate the 5 Sabotender/Cactrot teleport stones in the area (some require a certain weather to use), and beat the 3 Jabotender/Giant Cactuars in the area. Doing all that allows me to fight Ochu in the rain. This part took some planning to try to go the most efficient route with the fewest weather changes. I save before Ochu, but the first fight with it was under the time I wanted to win at (less than 5 minutes). After beating Ochu, I warp back to the camp, change the weather, then leave (I can't seem to talk to the sheep lady until I leave) and take the save. ----- Part 30 (5:27:23-5:35:53) 19, 30:20-39:08 This part involves fighting the second 30,000CP monster, Invincible. After many tries, I manage to beat it in under 5 minutes thanks to swapping out that little red guy from a long time ago. I use a Librascope here so the AI knows to use fire. Killing the sword then the actual Invincible seemed to be the best way to get through the fight in less than 5 minutes. After the victory, I leave the Archelyte Steppe and take the save. ----- Part 31 (5:35:53-5:40:36) 21, 1:39:16-1:44:19 Almost there! Just the last dungeon is left to go. I buy a new weapon for Noel from Chocolina, then fight the two glass giraffe things. This part took awhile due to wanting either 2 Platinum Ingots + 1 Scarletite or 1 Platinum Ingot + 2 Scarletite. After awhile I manage to get 1 Platinum Ingot and 2 Scarletites, then take the save. ----- Part 32 (5:40:36-5:49:20) 24b, 20:15-29:24 This part is just the second half of the last dungeon aside from the very last turn, due to getting some good parts then running into the deadly enemies there. I wanted this run to have no in-game battle retries, so it winded up being easier to take a save before the turn, which is what I do. I mashm the L1 button so I can tell when the platform has started moving, since I cant hold onto Mog while Serah is moving. ----- Part 33 (5:49:20-5:52:25) 24b, 59:43-1:03:09 This is the second-to-last part, where I sell the Platinum Ingot and Scarletites to buy some more Potion and other consumables as well as level up the characters and Raspberry one last time before the boss, then save. ----- Part 34a (5:52:25-6:13:06) 25a, 1:50:07-2:00:03 This part is split into two due to justin.tv/twitch.tv splitting recordings into 2-hour blocks. Here we go, last boss time. Bahamut Chaos doesn't seem to be able to be staggered, and Ruin seems to do the most damage, so I just use that. The first Caius has low HP but takes awhile to stagger (300%, can null stagger %), while the second and third Caius fights are only 200% to stagger, so they are a bit faster I think. For the last boss, I use a Librascope so everyone knows what to use. First, I kill the off-white dragon on the right first with fire spells then Ruin, and the red one on the left goes down from ice spells then Ruin. The main part of the boss gets staggered from magic, then Ruin to do more damage. Part 34b (5:52:25-6:13:06) 25b, 0:00-12:06 This part is split into two due to justin.tv/twitch.tv splitting recordings into 2-hour blocks. When Mega/Giga/Tera Flare come out, I try to buff during the count then change to Defenders/Sentinels to take a lot less damage from the attack. Those Unicorn Horns I picked up during the game come into play here to undo all the status ailments that get tossed at me when I can start attacking the main part of the boss. After beating the boss and skipping the ending cutscenes, the game saves, and that's my final time of 6:13:06. Since I was a lot closer to 5:xx than I thought I'd wind up with, I decided to find some things out then try a single segment run to get under 6 hours, which I maanged to do a few days after this was finished. You can find the single-segment 5:59:52 at jtv/twitch tv here: You can find the single-segment 5:59:52 at youtube here:
